Some people may be unconfortable with discussing the way hackers attack systems. They may ask, "what if there is a hacker in the room learning new ways to hack into my system?" There are probably several hackers in this room right now. They are most welcome but they are going to be disappointed. "Aw... He don't know nothing. I didn't hear anything from him that I didn't already know!" Fact is, they are already better at breaking into systems than I am. That's not what I do. I learn their tricks from them, they don't learn their tricks from me.
The best way to know how to protect your systems are to know how they can be broken into. You are at a natural advantage in protecting your systems because you know them, or should know them, better than the hacker. The hacker knows more tricks but you know how your system is protected.
I'm telling this tail from my view - that of the investigator.
