Security vs Utility

• A system that is not connected to any network or phone lines and is kept in a locked room is reasonably secure, but not very useful.
• The security requirements of a networked system are different from a standalone system.
• The security requirements of a workstation are different from a server.
• Security requirements must be balanced against the task requirements of both the system and the users.
