Security Tools and Enhancements

• Use Secure Shell (ssh) for remote access.
• Enable long passwords, md5 hashing of passwords, and shadow password files.
• Enable password policy enforcement.
• Periodically run a security scanning tool such as the Internet Scanner, Nessus, Satan, Trinux, or some combination of all of them.
• Install an intrusion detection system.
• Enable firewall code even on end systems.
